DelinvFile - Frequently Asked Questions

Why was DelinvFile converted from FreeWare to a Commercial product?

Some users were needing additional functionality.  A great deal of time and effort has been spent in implementing the new functions.  Conversion to a Commercial product is simply to have DelinvFile pay its own way.

The Commercial version of DelinvFile implemented additional functions.

The additional functions include "Open With..", Renaming Files, Renaming Folders, and Deleting Files and Folders at Boot.

Why does a file still exist after using the "Delete File at Boot" function?

It is likely due to the File being recreated after the "reboot" of your system.  This is a characteristic of many of the current Viruses, Trojans and Spyware programs.  That is, they re-infect the system via an automatically executed program during the "boot" process.

It is possible that the File is recreated by a legitimate program.

Please scan your system for Viruses, Trojans and Spyware programs.  You may find it useful to check your system's Startup programs.  For XP, you can use MSCONFIG.EXE which Microsoft provides with XP.

Microsoft did not distribute MSCONFIG.EXE with Win2000 or for Win-NT.

Fortunately, there are some ShareWare / FreeWare programs that can be used for any of the modern Windows systems (Win-95 up).

The one I like is 'Startup.exe' from Mike Lin, a student at MIT.  You can download it as 'Startup Control Panel' from https://www.mlin.net.  The download link is - https://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

I have seen "Startup Cop" listed with the PC Magazine utilities.  I have not used it.  It was developed by Neil Rubenking who does excellent work.  You may prefer to try it rather than 'Startup.exe'.
